Welcome to the website of Diane H. Holycross', master ceramic tile artist and owner of Tiles with Style, a decorative ceramic tile studio in Ransomville, NY. Diane has worked full-time making her unique mosaic ceramic tile designs since 1999.

In 2011, Diane has created some quite exquisite, one-of-a-kind, shaped, stained glass, ceramic tile mosaic designs. There are no others like them anywhere in the world. These shaped ceramic tiles are designed on the premise of stained glass patterns. This is not a large square tile or rectangular tile, but mosaic tiles that appear to be stained glass.

Instead of using stained glass, Diane has created handmade, fully vitrified ceramic tiles in intricately designed patterns. These fully vitrified ceramic tiles make for a very durable application that is suitable anywhere you would use ceramic tiles; backsplashes, showers, niches, floors, walls, pools, etc.

Each handmade ceramic tile design is unique to every client. They are one-of-a-kind ceramic tile designs. Each tile piece is hand cut, fired, cut again on a wet saw, and the edges grinded, just like stained glass, to interlock.

Once all tile pieces are cut and fit perfectly into the design, they are disassembled, washed, dried, and glaze to each unique client's specifications. The ceramic tiles are fired again, cooled, and assembled into the ceramic tile stained glass design style as shown below.

Each unique mosaic tile design is film mounted for a simple, fool-proof installation by the choice of your own installer. This method of securing the ceramic tiles into a design is far superior to mesh. It assures all tiles have full adhesion to the subsurface and it also protects the face of the tiles during shipment. That means no damage — no waiting for replacement pieces.

Once the decorative ceramic tiles are installed by your installer, the installer waits 24 hours. He/she then removes the protective tape/film and grouts as usual. Only a small, 1/8" grout line remains. When grouted with a charcoal color grout, the ceramic tile design resembles stained glass leading.

All one of a kind ceramic tile designs are priced individually, based on a square foot charge of $165 - $250 per SF. This is determined by the complexity of the design. This type of design is extremely tedious to make, because each piece is different and not manufactured.
